Mache Agape: Chapter 3

Morning arrived with warm light, waking the while of the land, and with the melodic singing of birds, the girl that had just managed to get some sleep woke in the same condition she had during the night, trembling and sweating. She had not woken from a bad dream, but that unease feeling burdened her more so than ever. Without losing a beat, she jumped out of bed, rushing downstairs, only to find no one. There would for sure be someone in the laboratory.
"Tails!" Amy shouted desperately as she slammed the doors opened, startling the poor fox, causing him to drop his tools.
"Amy? What's wrong?" He managed to say, reaching for his screwdriver, spanner, along with other tools.
"Where- Where's Sonic?!" The girls questioning made him wonder if she had been paying attention the night before. Sonic had made it quite clear what his plans were.
"Well he went to look for Eggman, remember? He told us he would go look for some clue as to what that maniac is thinking."
"Oh… Yeah… Guess I forgot about it…" She was pale, and Tails' words did not help to ease her burden.
"Amy, you don't have to tell me but… What's gotten into you?" Tails asked, worried for his friend's sanity. She looked at him with a strange expression, as if she was scared. She covered her face and shook her head a few times before answering.
"Oh Tails… I'm such a mess right now." There was a faint laugh as she spoke, making Tails even more worried.
"W- Well I can see that, but why?"
"… If you had knows Cosmo was going to die, what would you have done?" Her questioning made the boy open his eyes wide in surprise and pain. It took him a while before he could answer.
"I… I would have told her my feelings sooner and not waste a single moment at her side." His voice was little more than a whisper.
"Let's say… You were the reason why she died…If you knew you would be the cause of her death, then what would you have done?" She still hadn't answered his question, instead she made more questions.
"I don't get you Amy. Why are you asking all this? What sense does it make with anything else?" Even if Tails was the smartest kid, she didn't expect him to understand. She only laughed softly, sending chills down his spine.
"It's nothing, forget what I said… I'm just getting worried over nothing, right? Sonic always saves the day." Amy smiled mystically.
"Y- Yeah, he does…" Tails couldn't understand what was going inside the girl's head, not even one bit.
"Well, I'll go get breakfast ready." She turned and she started walking. "I could call Cream and Vanilla to see how they're doing today. It must be a pain to deal with all three members of Chaotic in their house." She was clearly talking to herself by now.
"…Did you understand anything she said, Glalaxia?" Tails turned to his beloved little "girl", smiling a sad smile as memories of the past came to him.

Sonic had reached the industrial park by now. All the places he knew, everywhere he had passed through in the past was as they had been then after he had freed them from Eggman's plans.  From Chemical Plant to Grand Metropolis, everything seemed normal. Tails' defensive system must have been working really well there. But it all changed when he reached the canyons. Bullet Station was as infested with robots as Station Square, maybe he had found a lead.
"Sonic." He heard a dark voice from behind, but our blue hero just smiled as he turned.
"Fancy seeing you here." His smile was wide and confident.
"And here I thought I'd had some time before you came wrecking my plans." Eggman said with a false tone of disappointment.
"To be honest, I wasn't expecting to find you so soon Eggy." Sonic simply chuckled.
"Don't act so cocky hedgehog. I came of my own free will, you wouldn't have been able to find me otherwise."
"You're turning yourself in? Wow, that's touching Eggman."
"You insolent brat! I came here to show you my power! For you to run for your life and warn others of my fearsome strength." For a moment Eggman actually sounded dangerous, but Sonic only laughed.
"Get off your cloud Eggman, you haven't been able to defeat me once, what makes you so sure you'll win today?"
"This." And just by pressing a button the earth started to shake. Sonic looked everywhere but he saw nothing. Shortly after the trembling stop. They were silent for a moment.
"… Is that all? Eggman, as always you're all bark but no bite! Can't believe for a second there you actually surpri-" But Sonic wasn't able to finish his phrase, for something hit him from behind, slamming him against the walk of rock that was before him.
"I've been analyzing all my errors Sonic, this time I've created the ultimate weapon. Say hello to my E-Gizoid!"
"E- Emerl?" Sonic gasped out as he stood up.
"That stupid robot never even listened to me. This is my own version of the Gizoid, isn't he wonderful? Ho Ho Ho Ho!" Eggman laughed in that matter he loved to, proud of his work. The robot looked just like the friend they had lost back then, but its eyes shone blood red, and its metal was pure gold in color, with energy overflowing from it, but somehow it could hide this energy as if pleased, for Sonic had not been able to feel such power before.
"You won't get away with this Eggman." Sonic made to charge.
"Ah is that what you think? Well… I think I already did." Eggman's voice was deadly. "E- Gizoid. Go." And with a burst of wind, the robot charged against Sonic, engaging in battle.
"You're pretty tough, I'll give you that much." Sonic punched and got punched, but fought as furiously as he always did.
"E-Gizoid!" Eggman called out and the robot jumped back. "Watch carefully hedgehog, I'll show you just what this robot is capable of." With his hand, he signaled the robot.
E-Gizoid's eyes started shining, Sonic ran towards it and  made to land a punch when he was suddenly pushed back, landing hard on his back, knocking all the air out of him, he could almost taste blood.
"I don't think you're able to ask, so I'll tell you what my plan is. You know all those robots in Station Square? They're just to keep you and all your friends busy while I fabricate more of these babies.  Of course I won't tell you where my workshop is, but when you feel better, I would concentrate on stopping my little robot rampage before they turn everything to ruins, though once I'm done with my gizoids it won't make much difference if you manage to stop those other puny robots. Good bye Sonic! Ho Ho Ho Ho!" At this point Sonic was only hearing how the villain's voice faded into the canyon.


"Sonic…" Amy left everything and ran to the garage, starting the engine on the tornado. At the sound of it Tails ran to see what was going on.
"Amy! What are you doing!?" He tried to get close.
"I'm going to look for Sonic!"
"What? Are you crazy!? Shadow told us to stay put! And Sonic told us he would go alone!" Tails tried to hold her back.
"Like heck if I care what they said. Sonic needs help and I'm not gonna just sit around." The Tornado's engine roared, making it hard for Tails to hear.
"What was that!?"
But the Tornado had started moving, running out the garage, taking flight as soon as it had gained speed.
"I'm going Sonic, just hold on a little."
